From the sidelines to the heart of ITW David Speer Academy, Kelly Bautista has always led with spirit and kindness. As a member of the cheer team, she wasn’t just known for her routines but for the way she lifted those around her on the field and in her classes. Her positivity and compassion have made her a true role model to the senior class.
Senior Kelly Bautista was interviewed about her high school experience. If Kelly were to describe her high school years in one word, she would describe them as unexpected. Kelly uses it to describe her experience because she believes that in high school, multiple obstacles are thrown at you. As an example, Kelly continues by saying that her hardest obstacles throughout high school were trying to balance her job, school work, and sports. Kelly states, “ I feel like having a more organized and set schedule helps you to be able to mentally balance everything, like setting time for work and also time for going with friends.”. Throughout Kelly’s high school career, her biggest motivation throughout all her obstacles was her family; her biggest goal is to just make sure to give everything back to her parents for all the sacrifices they made for her to get the education she is getting now.
This year would be Kelly’s second year doing performance arts. Mr Sanabria believes “Kelly is a positive role model. She is a student leader. She has done fantastic things in performing arts, and as a veteran for Performance Arts, she has mentored upcoming student arts.” Kelly’s experience in Performance arts was something that she had never done before. In the beginning, she felt awkward and shy since she wasn’t aware of her peers, but she believes that performance arts allowed her to make new friends and to put herself out there. Although Kelly enjoys doing performance arts, her future career doesn’t have anything to do with it. Kelly is undecided on her career, but it’s between being a teacher or something in the field of psychology.
