Since Donald Trump started his 2nd term as president, he and his administration have made outrageous claims about immigrants, one of which was that deporting “illegal aliens” will make “American communities safer”. This is not true. The Trump administration plans to conduct mass deportations that would upend entire communities and have severe economic fallout. Mass deportations would reduce economic growth, shrink the labor force, cost U.S.-born workers their jobs, raise costs for nearly all Americans, and risk igniting inflation.
Many immigrants have significantly contributed to American society by enriching its economy through innovation, entrepreneurship, filling labor shortages, and contributing to the tax revenues. Deporting all immigrants would trigger a severe economic recession, destabilize communities, and create humanitarian crises. Instead of trying to push criticism on immigrants, the Trump administration should focus on the real problem America faces today, its government itself.
For example, since Trump and his administration have started their 2nd term, the US has had several events where they’ve been described as near-conflicts, such as in June 2025, when Israel initiated large-scale attacks against Iran, which marked the beginning of a brief armed conflict. Trump and his administration decided to support Israel even though it started the conflict. The US later launched its own strikes against three Iranian nuclear facilities. You may wonder how it would affect the US, There are many reasons why. Since taking office, the Trump administration has approved nearly $12 billion in major FMS sales to Israel. This money could have been spent on improving America, such as education, healthcare, infrastructure, and canceling student loan debt. Have immigrants done so much harm to the US that they get more criticism than our own government? One last example is the Big “Beautiful” Bill. You may wonder how the bill benefits American citizens. It does not. The bill, which has already been passed by the rich, will have disastrous impacts for clean energy, electricity costs, cuts to Medicaid and SNAP, more ICE raids, and tax cuts for billionaires.
Why is our own government giving other countries money that they have no useful reason to give, and why do they not care for middle and lower class people, such as me and other people? In conclusion, the government itself is the problem. The government should stop wasting money on unproductive pursuits and instead focus on improving the country and the lives of its citizens.
