Over the past years, there has been competition between Dunkin and Starbucks. Especially when their seasonal drinks come out. People have always compared the drinks. This year is no different. Winter Drinks: Starbucks has 8 winter drinks, while Dunkin’ came out with 4. The drinks between Dunkin and Starbucks are very different; they differ in flavors and the kind of drink they are. In Starbucks, there are 4 lattes, creme brulee, and sugar cookies, in hot and cold. Dunkin has only one latte called the cookie butter cloud, it has cookie butter cold foam and cookie butter syrup.
I personally wanted to try both the Dunkin’ and Starbucks holiday drinks. Two from Starbucks and one from Dunkin. I tried the chai from both franchises, but Starbucks’ gingerbread was better. It reminds me of the infamous pumpkin chai latte, while the cookie butter chai has an odd aftertaste. The beginning tastes good, and it does taste like cookie butter; however, you have to mix the drink very well, if not, then the syrup will be all the way at the bottom. Dunkin cold foam also goes away very fast, whereas Starbucks stays while you drink your latte. Dunkin’s cold foam is from a can, while Starbucks’ cold foam is made by blending non-fat milk, heavy cream, and syrup together.
People believe the main difference between Dunkin and Starbucks is the price, but the prices are actually similar. Dunkin medium is $6.74, and Starbucks is $6.59; the actual difference is the amount in each drink. Dunkin medium is 24 oz, and Starbucks medium is 16 oz. The Dunkin medium is equivalent to a Starbucks venti; while you get more with Dunkin, I believe Starbucks’ quality is better.
Quality over quantity; therefore, in my opinion, Starbucks’ winter drinks are better than Dunkin’s because Starbucks has variety, better quality, and better cold foam. Another plus to Starbucks is their red cup day, which is when you can get a free Starbucks cup when you order a winter drink.
