As the year comes to an end, AP season arrives. Teachers like Ms. Swain and Mr. Neven have been preparing students for the AP test all year. It may be stressful now, but once you take the test, the year will go by in the blink of an eye.
Incoming sophomores and juniors should strongly consider AP courses because of the credit they earn. Although you may get stressed out from these classes, you just need to find a balance between your personal life and your school life. Knowing how much you can handle will determine your success. When selecting your classes for next year, consider what your success in that specific class will look like. For example, if you know you’re not the best in math, contemplate taking a lower-level class, or you could take a higher-level class, but ensure you will put in the effort needed to succeed.
If you’re worried about not being able to succeed in these classes, it’s important to know that your AP teacher will support you. Their ultimate goal is to have their students succeed not only in their class but in the actual AP test. Many teachers will have practice tests all throughout the year, and they finish all content usually around April in order to have ample time to study. If you do pass the test, passing is considered a 3 or above, then, depending on the college/university, you should get college credit.
Some AP classes offered at ITW: world history, United States history, psychology, calculus AB and bc, pre-calculus, language and composition, literature, computer science, biology, and chemistry. In my own experience, I would say United States history and calculus AB have been the most difficult. Though Mr. Neven and Mr. Notar have been great help, they support the class significantly. Neven may have a lot of work, but he means well; he wants everyone to succeed. And Notar explains everything very well. If you have a question, he is quick to answer it, even if he has already explained it multiple times. If you have any AP tests, good luck; you have prepared for this all year.
