After her summer program at Loyola, Speak up democracy, Alondra Delgado has gotten a clear view of what her future can be. When asked how her experience at Loyola was, she said that in the program she learned about Aristotle and his views of democracy, and she said she learned how she could fit into democracy and how to change it.
Furthermore, Alondra says Speak Up Democracy prepared her for what her college experience will be like. She stayed at Loyola for two weeks as she worked with her team on her project. Alondra wants to become a lawyer. She claims that if she were to be a lawyer, she would be an immigration lawyer. Alondra wants to help those whose voices aren’t heard. With the world’s current situation, she wants to help people who are afraid.
Although Alondra says she is interested in political science, she also says that she would want to pursue astrophysics. Astrophysics focuses on the physical nature of stars and celestial bodies. If she were to pursue Astrophysics, Alondra would do a PHD..Alondra has always been interested in space ever since she was a little girl; her first experience of truly falling in love with space was when she went camping and looked at the stars.
Currently, Alondra’s top college choices are UChicago, UIUC, Northwestern, and Loyola. She mostly wants to stay in the state, but if she were to go out of state, she would stay nearby in the Midwest. With the end of high school soon, Alondra says the most challenging part of high school was procrastinating, especially in Junior year. There was a lot of work from AP classes, and if you weren’t up to date, she was buried in the work. How she overcame this was by actually doing her homework the day it was assigned.
